As a non-profit membership organization, the FAM aims to create a movement of collaboration and positivity in the music industry, moving away from unhealthy competition and unequal access.
Our Vision
If the world is filled with six degrees of separation, then the music industry is filled with three degrees of separation - our vision is of a music industry FAMily with one degree of separation.
We believe that what we can achieve together is far greater than what we can as individuals.
Our Programs and Activities
Since our inception as a club at USC in 2017, we’ve hosted more than 75 professionals on our panels and workshops, and we’ve thrown parties, concerts, and jam-sessions to highlight our musicians and create a comfortable social environment for members to continue to connect. Our focus is on hosting events, as we believe it is easiest to connect with your peers and mentors in person, as opposed to online or over the phone. Highlighted below are some activities and programs we hope to expand and start in our first 3 years as a nonprofit.
Creating new chapters in LA, then NY, Miami, and Nashville
Continued panels and workshops highlighting every aspect of the music industry
Matchmaker Program to connect members with each other
Mentorship Program that emphasizes long-term relationship cultivation
Company Spotlights/Tours
Music Marathon – a 24-hour event where teams write, produce, and record a song
FAMily Dinners – an intimate dinner conversation
Happy Hours and other Socials (listening parties, kickbacks, etc.)
Grant funding for members to: Record an EP, form a company (Management, Design, Record Label, etc.), acquire licenses, or fund an artist project
High-school Mentorships providing opportunities for our college members to mentor the youth
Project-based Incubator – a long-term version of our Music Marathon where members can develop and launch a project, such as starting a record label or management company
Music already has a healing quality - can you imagine what we would all be able to experience if we healed the industry from the inside out?
